In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, SSIO volunteers from Columbia, Missouri made over 190 face shields for caregivers at four healthcare facilities. The volunteers complied with social distancing rules, wearing masks, and sanitizing workstations that were spaced eight feet apart. Face shields were also disinfected with wipes and packed with a “Thank You” card which contained a heart-warming message of gratitude for the caregivers’ sacrifices. On receiving the face shields, the staff at these facilities were delighted and relieved, since they were unable to obtain these shields in spite of many attempts.
