For the last 12 years, the Sathya Sai Centre of Dallas has participated in the Salvation Army Angel Tree Project, purchasing new clothes and toys as Christmas gifts for needy children ranging from 6 months to 15 years old. Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) students obtain several ‘angel’ cards, each listing the name of a child, his/her age, gender, and needs and wants. The cards are then distributed to SSIO volunteers who shop for their ‘angel’. For the last several years, the SSIO volunteers have adopted 108 ‘angels’ each year. In 2019, they also adopted 20 ‘forgotten seniors’. In addition, this past year, SSIO volunteers assisted at the Salvation Army warehouse to help distribute gifts and experience the joy of greeting and handing gifts to excited children, and seeing the gratitude in their parents’ eyes.
