In the summer of 2019, SSEHV teachers organised two five-day morning camps for over 40 local students of the Fu-Sing Elementary School (Hsingchu County) and Chi-Shien Elementary School (I-Lan County). The focus of these camps was to bridge the gap in educational resources offered to urban and rural schools in Taiwan. The camp helped the participants develop skills in writing by making meaningful hand-made picture books.

The children learned how to use their head, heart, and hands to turn their feelings into words and pictures. Not only students, but also administrators enjoyed the fun activity. One SSEHV teacher commented, “It’s challenging to finish making a Picture Book in five sessions. However, everyone tried so hard to make it possible. It is worthwhile not only for the students but for us as well!”
