On 18th February 2016, 40 SSIO members partnered with Junior Achievement Canada (JAC) to deliver a programme titled, “Stronger Together: Diversity in Action” to more than 810 students across the Greater Toronto Area. Since 1955, JAC has provided youth with the opportunities to learn financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and work readiness skills. Over the course of the day, volunteers led students to explore the concept of diversity from a variety of perspectives. In small groups, the students brainstormed various life scenarios, and through these healthy discussions, each child learned to listen, understand, and value others’ views. The children recognised that we are all the same yet unique in various ways, and that anyone can aspire to achieve what their hearts and minds focus on.
