In Maricaibo, Venezuela, 12 dedicated SSIO volunteers operate four improvised shelters for abandoned cats and dogs. The facilities are home to 850 cats and 35 dogs that have been abandoned by their owners due to difficult economic conditions. Upon publishing this noble work on Facebook, other needy families from the community brought in an additional 20 animals. Sathya Sai volunteers have sustained this service mainly through their resolve to follow the teachings of Sathya Sai Baba and their love for animals.
