During August–October 2014, Sathya Sai devotees in Suriname provided school supplies to more than 200 underprivileged children, ages 4 to 15. Several Sathya Sai Centres came together to supply pens, pencils, crayons, erasers, sharpeners, rulers, notebooks, school uniforms, and other school necessities in different regions of Suriname.
On 13th October 2014, Sai Young Adults of Suriname initiated a service project for 11 children with multiple disabilities whose parents were unable to care for them. The Sai Youth played games with the children and presented them with fruit baskets, snacks and drinks, and other gifts. The youth, in turn, learned how to give compassionate care to children with multiple disabilities.
On 18th October 2014, eight Sai Young Adults and three Sathya Sai devotees conducted physical exercises for children with multiple disabilities. In addition to physical activities, the volunteers helped the children construct rhythm instruments from recycled plastic bottles filled with rice and painted with the children’s favourite colours. The volunteers were touched to observe a disabled child, who could hardly use her hands, lovingly trying to help other children.
