A medical camp was held in Chiriquí, Panamá, on 12th April 2014, near the site of an abandoned banana plantation, which had closed five years ago following a plague. The former plantation workers had left the area in search of jobs elsewhere, leaving the women and children of 40 families to fend for themselves. There is no water or electricity in this area. The Sathya Sai Centre of Bugaba has provided the destitute inhabitants with food, clothes and medicines since the plantation closed, and has held medical camps periodically. At the medical camp of 12th April, a general physician and a paediatrician examined 28 adults and 38 children. Sathya Sai volunteers served vegetable rice with soybean to all attendees.
