In the Borikhan district of Borikhamxay Province, Laos, 15 villages were severely affected by flooding in July 2013. About 40 volunteers from the Sathya Sai Foundation of Laos responded to the emergency by distributing rice, cooking oil, soy sauce, instant noodles, salt, sugar, blankets and other needed items.
The disaster relief efforts were covered by major newspapers in English and local languages. In recognition of humanitarian services rendered on 6th July 2013, the Governor of Borikhan district awarded a certificate to the Sathya Sai Foundation on 15th August 2013.
