For over a decade, SSSIO members in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, volunteered every second Saturday of the month at Global Links, which is a nonprofit organization that ships surplus medical supplies from U.S. hospitals to developing countries. This is done through collaborations with the World Health Organization (WHO) and Ministries of Health in various countries, as well as local public health systems. About 10 individuals, including SSE children, sort and pack blood pressure monitors, syringes, wound care supplies (bandage, gauze), and other supplies to be shipped.

Mr. Danny Tremblay, a volunteer coordinator with Global Links, underscored the vital role of volunteers, noting that the organization could not exist without volunteer help and expressed deep gratitude for the SSSIO members’ assistance.

Ms. Stacy Bodow, the outreach and engagement manager, echoed this sentiment in a thank-you note, “Although faces of volunteers have changed over the years, the dedication and commitment of the Sai group as a whole has not wavered. We appreciate the energy and focus that members bring. Not only do they provide monthly volunteer time to sort and pack, but they also purchase and assemble personal care kits to help our local communities. Thank you, Sri Sathya Sai Center, for all that you do for people both locally and globally, and for being a valued partner that Global Links relies on to help us improve health for all.
