In May 2024, SSSIO members from four cities in Russia’s Volga-Ural region dedicated a day to serving nature. In one city, Sai volunteers labored to make a plot for growing flowering plants and potatoes. In another city, Sai volunteers honored a veteran by tending to their garden. The volunteers weeded, cleared away debris, and cultivated the soil to plant various perennials and annuals while music played in the background. An array of petunias, asters, salvias, and gaillardia are now set to bloom in the garden. Meanwhile, a dedicated individual in a third city undertook the daunting task of cleaning litter from a local beach along the Belaya River. Finally, in the fourth city, Sai volunteers connected with nature through bird feeding, homestead work, and feeding a homeless community member.

Filled with gratitude and joy, participants from all four cities contributed to a beautiful “maypole” of collective energy.
