SSIO volunteers in Myanmar lovingly serve the underprivileged year-round. In December 2019, 23 volunteers prepared and served warm meals to more than 900 needy people in three locations in Myanmar.
YGW Home, a school and orphanage in Swar, in southern Myanmar, provides loving care to over 400 needy children. In 2016, SSIO volunteers had constructed a toilet for the Home. Based on a recent request from the Home, SSIO volunteers recently acquired nearby agricultural land and constructed a new building to shelter 200 children. On 28th December 2019, the building was handed over to the Home.
Myanmar’s SSIO volunteers also served more than 600 patients at three medical camps in Yangon, Myo Hai and the YGW Home in southern Myanmar from 26th to 28th December 2019. Prayers were held prior to the start of the medical camps where 7 doctors and 16 volunteers served the patients with love and compassion. A medical specialist from Yangon spoke about general health, covering general hygiene, healthy living, the importance of deworming and taking multivitamins, dental hygiene, and proper techniques for brushing teeth and washing hands.
