In November 2018, more than 700 people from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan participated in public meetings across Zone 8. These meetings, now a well-established public outreach initiative throughout the region, were held in 21 Sathya Sai Centres and 33 Sathya Sai Groups located in over 50 cities.
These events, held in a warm, friendly and joyous atmosphere, acquainted the attendees with the life and teachings of Sathya Sai Baba and the activities of the SSIO. Thoughtful discussions were also held about the spiritual and moral education of the younger generation, the health of the nation and environmental safety. Volunteers further shared their experiences of spiritual transformation. Notably, this year’s meetings welcomed the participation of about 250 children, who took an active part in several of the programs. In some cities, the public gatherings were coupled with service activities in which volunteers distributed books, cared for the elderly and served hot meals to the needy.
