SSIO volunteers including Young Adults across Australia donated large amounts of blood in 2018, with an estimated three lives being saved from each donation. During 2018, 718 blood donations were made, potentially saving more than 2,000 lives. This selfless service was much appreciated by the Australian Red Cross, which coordinates blood donations in Australia. The youth compiled a promotional video with the theme “You don’t need a cape to be a Superhero”. Donors shared photos of their blood donation experiences on a Facebook group to encourage others to step forward. The blood donation was a catalyst to further intensify the sadhana (spiritual practice) for many YAs for the pilgrimage to Prasanthi Nilayam in 2019. As encouragement, Young Adults were rewarded with points for various activities such as donating blood, taking a friend to donate, and driving donors to the site.
