The SSIO of New Zealand observed Mahasamadhi Day on 24th April 2017 at St Leonards Road School, Auckland. The programme, “From Form to Formless,” opened with prayers and a melodious Maori chanting of “Te Aroha,” followed by a minute of silence in remembrance of the first landing of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) at Gallipoli, Turkey, during World War I. The SSE children presented a short play with a simple message, “You can find love in nature, animals, and in our hearts.” Young Adults offered a rousing musical performance incorporating western and eastern songs and musical instruments, after which a panel discussion highlighted the teachings of Sathya Sai Baba. A vote of thanks included a tribute to the ANZAC veterans who had given their lives a century ago for the benefit of future generations.
