The European Sathya Sai Education (ESSE) Institute organised a seminar on 4th–5th February 2017 in Budapest, Hungary, marking a fresh start for the Education in Human Values (EHV) programme and attracting about 30 participants from all walks of life. The speakers covered the general philosophy and basic concepts of EHV, providing a solid foundation in the programme’s principles to both teachers and other professionals. The seminar was attended by both newcomers and returning participants, all motivated by interest in a values-oriented approach to life and work. The seminar introduced the five basic human values of love, truth, right action, peace, and nonviolence, as taught by Sathya Sai Baba, founder of the EHV programme, and offered a glimpse into some of the projects started by Sathya Sai to serve society. The presentations were supplemented by practical workshops on applying human values concepts daily. A newcomer observed that the seminar provided a comprehensive clarification of the basic concepts, while educators agreed that the knowledge and experience gained through practising the principles would help them improve their lesson plans and their scientific studies.
