During October 2016, more than 100 Canadian Sathya Sai Young Adults from coast to coast took part in the “Love for Animals” campaign as part of the Serve the Planet project, by using hashtags #LoveAllAnimals and #ServeThePlanet on social media. They spread their love for all animals by sharing their favourite quotes, pictures, and messages of love and awareness of animal rights, which reached thousands of people across their extended social media networks. Since Serve the Planet is a public outreach initiative, young adults hoped to engage their friends and the public by taking these messages online. The conversation topics included combatting animal cruelty, loving pets, and promoting vegetarianism. Many pictures of animals were posted and reposted, along with notable quotes, such as, “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” —Mahatma Gandhi, and by focusing on the positive traits of animals, such as their unconditional love and their strength to follow the laws of nature and act accordingly.
