The 90th Birthday celebrations in Hong Kong honouring Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba began on Ladies’ Day, 19th November 2015, with a service programme for the elderly. The Ladies Wing treated the guests to a sumptuous lunch, entertained them with games, and gave each guest a hamper of basic necessities. On 23rd November, Bhagawan’s Birthday celebrations opened with prayers and bhajans. In the evening, the Sathya Sai Centre brimmed with people who came to honour and celebrate the life of Sathya Sai. The programme included uplifting bhajans and beautiful videos. The annual publication, Sai Sarathi, with the theme “Transformation of the Self: the Grace of Sai,” was offered to Bhagawan.
Thereafter, on 11th December 2015, about 1,100 people attended a cultural programme. The opening dance and drama reminded the audience of Bhagawan’s omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence. The drama, titled “Our Lives Are His Message,” featured a silhouette form of Sathya Sai Baba inside the façade of a temple as a reminder of His omnipresence. At the end of the play, Sathya Sai volunteers presented a video, and the evening ended with a finale by SSE children, followed by a traditional cake-cutting ceremony.
In other activities, the Service Wing distributed 1,000 utility hampers to street sleepers and disadvantaged people. Each hamper contained a warm blanket, muffler, socks, umbrella, face towel, bath towel, and a dental care set, packed in an environmentally-friendly, reusable bag. SSIO volunteers serve destitute people living on the streets of Hong Kong year-round.
