A first Sathya Sai health camp in New York City was organised at East Elmhurst in Queens, New York, on 19th April 2014. Over 65 medical and non-medical volunteers, including internists, specialists, nurses and medical assistants, provided health care services. As divinely ordained, exactly 108 participants – mostly needy residents from the local community – were screened for blood glucose, blood pressure and body mass index. Participants also received wellness and preventive care information, along with complimentary hygiene kits.
Sathya Sai devotees observed Bhagawan’s Mahasamadhi day on 24th April 2014 by serving breakfast and lunch to the needy on the sidewalks of Manhattan in New York City. More than 300 people from homeless shelters were served breakfast at Tompkins Square Park, and lunch was served on First Avenue in Manhattan. Sathya Sai volunteers also distributed hygiene kits and toiletries.
