On March 23, 2024, the South Central Region of the SSSIO-USA partnered with the City of Lake Charles, Louisiana, to revitalize areas devastated by hurricanes by planting trees. Sai volunteers from Houston, Texas, collected 250 five-gallon trees donated by Trees for Houston and transported them in a 15-foot U-Haul (rental vehicle). Around 12 Sai volunteers from Houston, Austin, and Dallas gathered for a short prayer before embarking on their tree-planting mission. Multiple locations were targeted, including a hospital, a park, and a church.

The Recreation & Parks Department provided an auger for digging holes. The team successfully planted 50 trees, while the remaining 200 were stored for future use. The SSSIO volunteers felt gratified that they had contributed to environmental restoration. The City of Lake Charles appreciated their dedication and assured them of the ongoing care of the trees.
