The Sri Sathya Sai Center of Trincomalee in the North Central Region of Sri Lanka initiated a project to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. On October 25, 2023, the Centre launched its inaugural Drug Awareness Program at Zahira College, aimed at empowering young people to make wise life choices and avoid drug addiction. Named Promoting Healthy Life Choices, the program aimed to engage participants in interactive sessions – encouraging students to actively participate in discussions, share their thoughts, and pose questions. This approach facilitated a personal connection with the young audience. It helped them cultivate a profound understanding of the devastating consequences of drug abuse on the individual and society as a whole.

An important element of the program was an awareness walk, where students carried placards bearing anti-drug messages, demonstrating their commitment to a drug-free lifestyle. The program was successful due to the invaluable support of the school administration and underscored the need to address this issue collectively.

In total, 94 students and dedicated teachers from Zahira College participated and benefitted from the workshop.
