In 2023, Sri Sathya Sai Centre of Sonjastraat, Suriname, initiated a project called Christmas with Sai. Recognizing the needs of those living in children’s homes, impoverished rural areas, and nursing homes, Sai volunteers had an earnest desire to uplift their spirits during Christmas by providing food hampers. These hampers were generously filled with rice, oil, kidney beans, green peas, oatmeal, peanut butter, chocolate spread, Christmas bread, and cookies.
On December 17, 2023, SSE children, along with their parents and adult volunteers, distributed 11 Christmas hampers to cheer the spirits of impoverished families in Magenta, a rural area. The Sai Center also brought joy to more than 80 children at Zout der Aarde, a children’s home, and helped them celebrate Christmas by giving them food hampers. The shelter, which faces financial challenges and needs help, welcomed the generous gifts. Huber Stichting, a children’s home dedicated to the care of children with multiple disabilities, was also a thankful recipient of the Christmas packages.
Sai volunteers and the children felt immensely grateful for the opportunity to share happiness with others, uplifting their Christmas spirits.
