Since 1998, dedicated volunteers from the Sri Sathya Sai Baba Center in Faenza, Italy, a city of 59,000 residents, have been running a Sunday canteen, serving nearly 80 people free vegetarian meals every week. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the canteen continued to provide take-away meals. On its 25th anniversary in 2023, the project received recognition from the local newspaper Settesere for its quality of service and community impact.
The canteen service has not only benefited the community but has also transformed the lives of the volunteers. It is a powerful example of love in action, inspiring one recipient who battled addiction to find a renewed sense of purpose in volunteering and helping others.
Additionally, during a severe flood in the Emilia Romagna region, despite suffering extensive damage, the Sai Center in Faenza remained unwavering in its kindness and support. It provided over 170 meals to young men engaged in cleanup efforts.
