Tropical cyclone Gabrielle struck New Zealand on February 12, 2023, causing major flooding and massive damage to property and infrastructure. Thousands of people were displaced, and there was a tragic loss of 11 lives on the North Island of New Zealand. Following another massive flood on February 24, the SSSIO in New Zealand rushed emergency supplies to the affected community, including two much-needed generators for the flood-ravaged areas. The SSSIO also arranged to have a Sai volunteer doctor airlifted into the area to render medical services.
