During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, three Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) students from the South East Denver Sathya Sai Center, Colorado built an online website titled Kids 4 Our Community. Motivated by a desire to uplift the spirits of the most vulnerable and the elderly in nursing homes, the trio designed an appealing website using colourful art, encouraging letters, musical tunes, and informative videos, and even detailing how to make a mask at home. The website also provides information on ways one could volunteer as well as valuable community resources for those seeking help.
Their three SSE teachers and twelve classmates got involved, thoughtfully creating letters of gratitude to essential workers and artwork with positive messages to be posted on the website. In gratitude to all essential workers, the boys added a segment where they interviewed humble heroes. Their first interview was with the Sheriff of Arapahoe County, who explained that the “Kids 4 Our Community” website was one of the many resources which his office shared with those who need it.
