In December 2019, Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) children from the Sathya Sai Center, Greensboro, North Carolina initiated a Hygiene Kit Project. The children assembled kits containing essential items such as toothpaste, toothbrush, floss, mouthwash, shampoo, earbuds, and bars of soap packed in a gallon sized Ziploc bag. They delivered these kits to students at a local elementary school, and a school volunteer, who also attended the local Sathya Sai Center, placed them in the backpacks of the students. This small act of kindness brought smiles and happiness in the lives of people in need who not only expressed gratitude but also narrated how it has brought positive change in their children. The mother of a recipient called a SSIO volunteer, overcome with emotion, and thanked them because the high-quality shampoo in the hygiene kit helped her daughter wash her oily hair, enabling her to relax and sleep peacefully. This experience helped the SSE students realise that small things can make a big impact and we should be always grateful for what we have.
