Ponta Grossa is a city in the state of Paraná in southern Brazil. It is known for the Vila Velha State Park, home to towering sandstone formations, craterlike pits and pools like Lagoa Dourada. As part of the 95 Global Community Adoption programme, SSIO volunteers in Ponta Grossa established a community vegetable garden, growing native vegetables and local crops. Despite the unusually cold weather in July 2019, when temperatures reached -3o C, the garden was unaffected, to the surprise of local residents and agricultural experts.
