Nearly 400 villagers in Sri Vallipuram in eastern Sri Lanka had to walk long distances to obtain safe, clean water. On 16th June 2019, SSIO volunteers in Sri Lanka, assisted by the SSIO of UK inaugurated a Deep Well Project in the village. Once completed, the well will provide safe drinking water for 86 families in the village. Over the last few years, the SSIO of Sri Lanka has adopted Sri Vallipuram, and provided nutritional food to pre-school children on school days. In addition, the volunteers have also installed sanitary facilities in many houses in the area.
