In April 2018, volunteers from the SSIO of Colombia met with indigent community members in the El Hato neighbourhood of Funza, to identify their needs. This meeting resulted from an appeal by the president of the Neighbourhood Community Action Programme, to help deprived people in the community. As a result, SSIO volunteers identified 47 elderly people and 25 economically challenged families to support, and distributed groceries to them. In addition, the volunteers initiated monthly classes in human values for a group of 14 teenagers, 10 pre-teens and 10 children, and conducted a workshop for the parents.
