On 27th November 2016, 49 volunteers from the Sathya Sai School of Bangkok and the Sathya Sai Centres of Rajdamneon, Sai Prasanthi, and Sukumvit participated in a service activity at Sanam Luang. Thai citizens have great respect for the King of Thailand, who had passed away on 13th October 2016. According to custom, his body was placed in state at the Grand Palace for one full year, to allow people from faraway provinces enough opportunity to pay homage to their beloved King. The viewing was drawing an average of 10,000 people on weekdays and around 20,000 on weekends, with visitors waiting up to 8 hours in long lines for the viewing. The SSIO of Thailand set up a booth that day and distributed cakes, milk, fruits, candies, wet towels, inhalers, water, peanuts, and cookies to more than 6,000 visitors during the hot afternoon.
