The Mayor of Toronto invited the SSIO of Canada to participate in a meeting of the Toronto Area Interfaith Council (TAIC) on 27th July 2016. The TAIC is dedicated to affirming the importance of ethics, spirituality, and faith in daily life, and to the promotion of understanding, harmony, respect, and acceptance among the faith communities of Toronto. The meeting included beautiful video presentations illustrating the growth and contributions of the city’s major places of worship and inspiring hope and a renewed commitment to work in unity to build a strong spiritual community. In a speech, the Mayor commended the wonderful work of the council and stressed the importance of unity in diversity, echoing the teachings of Sathya Sai Baba. A notable outcome of this event was an invitation to the SSIO of Canada to work alongside the TAIC and the Toronto City Council to host the next Parliament of World’s Religions in October 2018.
