A young child’s deep love for nature inspired a meaningful service project by the Sri Sathya Sai Center of Southeast Denver. As his final SSE project, six-year-old Siddarth led the planting of a flowering Crabapple tree and colorful flowerbeds at Grace United Methodist Church, where weekly SSE classes are held. Siddarth chose a tree that would bloom with pink blossoms, symbolizing beauty and life, and invited SSSIO members to join him in offering it to Baba. “Trees give oxygen, homes, and food for animals, shade, and life to flowers,” he said. “I want to plant a tree… and everyone is invited!”

Nine Sai Center members responded, and after a prayer of gratitude, the group planted the tree near the church sanctuary, surrounding it with organic fertilizer, mulch, and stones. Vibhuti was sprinkled, and a sense of unity, devotion, and love filled the moment. The church’s pastor was touched by the offering, calling it a lasting gift of beauty and spirit.

Siddarth then led everyone to the St. Francis of Assisi Peace Garden, where he joyfully helped plant rainbow rows of petunias beside peace lilies, a bird bath, and a statue of St. Francis. One volunteer remarked that “Baba is smiling on you,” to which Siddarth replied, “His tree and flowers are smiling too!” The special project embodied the core teachings of SSE—love, unity, and service—expressed through the pure heart of a child, supported by a caring community.
