In February 2024, SSSIO New Zealand groups partnered with the Kaipatiki Community Trust to organize a Fun Day event at Marlborough Park, Glenfield, to uplift the spirits of children with special needs. The event aimed to create a memorable experience that promoted a sense of inclusion, connection, and support for the children through various interactive games, arts and crafts activities, face painting, a talent show, and musical performances, including one by the popular musician Hina. The interactive nature of the event allowed the children to socialize, express themselves creatively, and build confidence in a supportive environment. The event had a positive impact, providing a day of fun, friendship, and empowerment for the children. Around 350 people attended, including 58 special needs children. Caretakers and community members actively participated, with 35 SSSIO members and 20 volunteers representing the Trust and local Sikh and Muslim communities. The SSSIO extended its gratitude to all volunteers and sponsors for their invaluable contributions.
