With the onset of the pandemic, volunteers from the Sri Sathya Sai Center of Jersey City, New Jersey have found more service opportunities. They assisted seniors in their neighborhood with registering for vaccination and distributed groceries and blankets at the soup kitchen in Jersey City. They also partnered with the mayor’s office of Secaucus to donate winter clothing such as sweaters and jackets. In addition, SSSIO volunteers distributed 100 dinner rolls to the community. In one case, the rolls were packaged with pasta and bananas and distributed along with groceries to 60 elderly residents at the Essex Plaza senior center in Newark. The volunteers also distributed dinner rolls along with toiletries at homeless shelters in Jersey City and Hoboken.
