Over the last three years, the National Service Wing of the SSIO of Mauritius has focused on helping to improve operations at the Sathya Sai School of Mauritius. On 6th January 2019, SSIO volunteers gave a helping hand to get the school ready for the start of the new academic year. Around 45 volunteers, including Sathya Sai Young Adults, cleaned the school yard, assembled new playground equipment for children, cleaned window panes, planted flowers and cleaned up the lawn. Since 2018, eight regions of the island have been allocated a specific month to lead the service activity, which is held monthly during the school year. Each region has also taken the responsibility of adopting a classroom to ensure that it is well maintained. Major cleaning sessions are held before the start of each term – in January, and at the end of April and August. The Ladies’ Wing also helped in cleaning the backyard of the school.
