On 4th October 2015, SSIO volunteers from Serbia offered loving services to refugees from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq who were fleeing their homeland, ravaged by war and strife. With no place to call home, the displaced people were living in tents, sleeping on park benches and using public fountains for washing. About 10 Sathya Sai members, along with international youth volunteers, distributed food and clothing to the homeless refugees staying at a park near Belgrade’s main bus station. The food was donated by local residents as well as the SSIO of Germany. Sathya Sai volunteers from Serbia also shared homemade sweet cakes and fruits with the refugees. The clothes were collected by volunteers locally and in Bosnia/Herzegovina, for distribution. The volunteers experienced a heart-to-heart connection with the refugees through the act of selfless service.
