Since 2009, medical and service camps have been offered regularly in Northwest Russia. From late May to early June 2015, SSIO members organised a camp in the Leningrad region to provide medical and social assistance. More than 40 volunteers joined in repairing schools, offering medical services, and providing lessons in human values to local children. Medical services included consultations in physical therapy, dermatology, and psychology.
Massages, haircuts, and beauty services also were offered, free of charge. Sathya Sai volunteers plastered and painted the walls and ceilings of the kitchen, dining room, lobby, and bathroom of the school where they were accommodated, in addition to repairing the bathroom fixtures. Volunteers also distributed 21 packages of essential supplies to needy families and donated a wheel chair to an elderly woman. Sathya Sai volunteers conducted the human values classes for children with love and attention, at a community center. Some of the children were mentally and physically challenged, while others belonged to needy or disadvantaged families.
