Sai Centres in Southern California, USA observed Bhagawan’s Mahasamadhi with days of service across the sunny region.
On 20th April, 70 volunteers from the Sathya Sai Centres of Lakewood, Mission Viejo and Tustin served freshly-made salad, rice, fajitas, quesadillas, beans, sandwiches, fruits and juices to 650 adults and 50 children at 11 homeless shelters in Santa Ana, Long Beach, Costa Mesa and Placentia. On the same day, Sathya Sai devotees from Arcadia, Glendale and Hollywood served lemon rice, salad, pasta, beans, potato curry, fruits, yogurt, ice cream, juices and water to more than 200 homeless people in downtown Los Angeles.
On 27th April, more than 20 volunteers from the Sathya Sai Centres of Arcadia, Camarillo and Glendale in Southern California distributed about 10,000 lb of dry food and supplies, along with hygiene kits, to 250 extremely poor families at a church in Oxnard, about 60 miles west of Los Angeles. Migrant labourers and their families received rice, beans, sugar, cereal, jam, canned food, oil and peanut butter, as well as a blanket, towel, two pairs of socks, lotion, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, bandages, combs and tissue paper. About 20 volunteers, including children, had packed the bags of food, supplies and hygiene kits at the Arcadia-Glendale Food Bank on 26th April.
