The Sri Sathya Sai Village Improvement Programme in Sri Lanka has adopted Selvapuram, a village of about 300 economically challenged families near the Kondavil township in Kopai, Jaffna. Since June 2017, SSIO volunteers have conducted weekly classes on Sathya Sai Education in Human Values for approximately 70 children, along with monthly classes for 150 female heads of families. As a result, SSIO volunteers have developed a close bond with the villagers, besides providing housing for single mothers and repairing water supply infrastructure. On 8th December 2017, volunteers from the Sathya Sai Centres in Jaffna, Kondavil, Kopay, Kokuvil, Thavady, and Urumpirai, along with preschool teachers and a government officer, organised an outreach programme in the village. The day began with 350 elders and 115 children joining a procession while singing devotional songs and wearing T-shirts bearing the message, “Love All Serve All.” The day’s programme also included values-based songs, dances, speeches, and a drama.  Pictures of Sathya Sai Baba were distributed to all, and the children received exercise books boxes of mathematical instruments and pens.
