The Work Cradle is a service project established in August 1986 by a member of the Niterói Sathya Sai Centre in Rio de Janeiro to make layettes for newborn babies whose mothers were unable to afford them. As of 2014, Sathya Sai devotees have sewn 6,445 outfits for babies and packed them for distribution, along with pacifiers, milk bottles, and similar useful items. A dedicated and caring team of volunteers gathers every Wednesday to cut and stitch the clothing for babies so that needy mothers can dress their bundles of joy with love.
