On 20th October 2013, 120 members from 15 Sathya Sai Centres with a number of others served food to 650 needy people in honour of Avatar Declaration Day (20th October). In Piemonte, Sathya Sai devotees distributed 3 kg of biscuits, 370 slices of pizza, and milk and coffee to more than 200 homeless people on 20th October. In Lombardia, volunteers distributed food to many destitute people who live around the rail station of Bergamo. About 21 volunteers from the Sathya Sai Centre of Mestre served over 300 meals in Verona to people from many countries on 20th October. Volunteers at the Sathya Sai Centre of Udine offered cakes, nuts, muffins and cupcakes to families in need. In Lazio, the Sathya Sai Centre of Cagliari collected and distributed food to needy families and unemployed sailors. In the Sathya Sai Centres of Pescara and Latina, food was packed and distributed to needy families. Sathya Sai devotees at the Centres of Rome and Formello served food to more than 100 homeless people at the rail station in Rome. In Emilia, volunteers at the Centre of Faenza served more than 70 meals and distributed grocery packs on 20th October. An article about this service was published in the local newspaper.
